The 5 Ingredients We'll Never Use (And Why)

The 5 Ingredients We'll Never Use (And Why)

I'm not a fan of making a giant list of everything that's “bad” in skincare.

There are a lot of opinions out there, and honestly, it can get overwhelming.

But when I started All Good, I knew there were certain things I didn't want in my products.

Not because I think every ingredient on this list is automatically dangerous in every situation, but because they don't fit what I want All Good to be about: simple, thoughtful skincare made with ingredients I actually feel good about using.

So here are five things you won't find in my formulas.

1. Parabens

Parabens are preservatives used to help products stay fresh and prevent microbial growth.

There are plenty of debates about them, but for me, the choice is pretty simple: I don't need them in my formulas, so I don't use them.

I'd rather formulate with ingredients that fit the kind of simple skincare I want to make.

2. Phthalates

Phthalates are often used in cosmetics, including in some fragrance formulations.

They're another ingredient I simply don't want in All Good.

I don't want to hide ingredients behind vague terminology when I can be transparent about what we're putting into our products.

3. Artificial Fragrance

This one is especially important to me.

“Fragrance” can represent a pretty broad category of ingredients, and I want you to know what you're putting on your skin.

When we use scent, I prefer carefully selected essential oils or naturally derived ingredients rather than creating a mystery fragrance cocktail.

If I can't explain what's in it, I don't want it in my skincare.

4. Mineral Oil & Petroleum-Based Ingredients

Mineral oil and other petroleum-derived ingredients have been used in skincare forever.

But they aren't what I want All Good to be about.

I prefer ingredients like grass-fed, grass-finished beef tallow and carefully chosen plant oils that bring something meaningful to the formula rather than simply creating a barrier or adding slip.

5. Unnecessary Fillers

This might actually be my biggest one.

If an ingredient doesn't serve a purpose, why is it there?

I don't want to create a 30-ingredient formula just so the label looks impressive.

I want every ingredient to have a reason for being there.

That's the whole idea behind All Good.

Less junk. More good stuff.

And that's a standard I'm going to stick with.

Because if I'm not willing to use it on my own skin, I'm certainly not going to put it in a product I'm asking you to use on yours.
